The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era. The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities - Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory - as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities. The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and AECOM. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project. This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work night shift (5:30pm to 4:00am) and weekends as needed. Role Overview: Assist construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures. Ensuring all installations are per latest revisions of design drawings, specifications, standards and codes. Performing inspections and initiating supporting documentation for all discipline system installations on an ongoing basis. Coordinate engineering or construction problems with superintendents. Interpret design-engineering drawings and prepare construction working drawings for the use of superintendents as required. Prepare or direct preparation of field bulk material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials. Track commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required. Prepare field change notices, extra work orders and back charge notices. Completing final system walk-downs, deficiency tracking and close-out This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university and at least 1 year of related construction experience. In lieu of degree, at least 7 years of progressive construction related experience. Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk downs which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces, and lifting up to 60 lbs., wearing safety harness. Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check which includes verification of employment and education. Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge and application of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E code. Preferred Qualifications: Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship. Knowledge of Zero Accidents safety program. Prior Bechtel experience and nuclear construction knowledge preferred. Prior government experience Knowledge of DOE Electrical Safety Handbook.
