Job Description:
About the Opportunity The Irrigation and Maintenance Technician
is responsible for supporting crop health through labor management,
irrigation setup and maintenance, plant health monitoring, and
operating farm equipment. This role requires supervising labor
crews, applying fertilizers and pesticides, ensuring safety
compliance, and adapting to evolving research and operational
needs, flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment
to safety are essential. Responsibilities --- Work Schedule: Commit
to working 5 days a week, including weekends (Saturday and Sunday),
as needed based on operational requirements. --- Supervision:
Supervise and manage labor crews (2-10 people) to ensure tasks are
completed efficiently and to standard. This includes delegating
tasks, ensuring productivity, and addressing any challenges or
issues that arise. --- Plant Health Monitoring: Regularly walk
plant rows multiple times per day to monitor overall plant health,
assess soil and drainage conditions, identify and correct
irrigation issues, and record irrigation status. Record all
relevant observations and update the team or supervisor as
necessary. --- Fertilizer & Pesticide Application: Accurately mix
and apply fertilizers or pesticides as directed by the supervisor,
following all safety and environmental protocols. --- Maintenance
Tasks: Assist with general plant and irrigation maintenance as
required to ensure optimal growing conditions. --- Safety
Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines, promoting safety
best practices, and ensuring safety protocols are followed by the
crew. --- Pesticide Application: Assist with pesticide
applications, ensuring all tasks comply with safety and regulatory
standards. --- Confidentiality & Security: Safeguard Driscoll's
proprietary and confidential information, ensuring secure handling
of company data and operational procedures. --- Additional Duties:
Perform other related agricultural tasks as assigned, which may
include troubleshooting issues, overseeing additional operational
needs, and adapting to changes in research and operational
priorities. This position requires flexibility, as research and
agricultural practices are constantly evolving, and tasks may shift
accordingly. Candidate Profile --- Ability to work independently
and/or as a crew supervisor. --- Must be punctual and arrive to
work at the scheduled hour. --- Must be able and willing to handle
pesticides/fertilizers. This often occurs in the early morning
and/or late evening hours so a flexible schedule is required. ---
Must be able to work in a field setting that requires movement and
standing for an extended period with frequent bending. ---
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required. --- Ability
to operate tractors and equipment for pesticide application. ---
Safety compliant to all personal protective equipment rules and
protocols. --- Basic math, reading, and writing skills. --- This

Benefits The following information is provided in good faith as a

position posted. The actual compensation offered to the successful
candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work
location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related
factors. Salary Range estimated for the Irrigation and Maintenance
Technician : $37,450.00/year to $43,000.00/year. Driscoll's is
