TitleScientist - Chemist Position Number31488 CompanyWA River Protection Solutions Location200W/2713S Posted11/20/2018 Closes12/04/2018 Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Responsibilities/Duties This position's primary role is to perform radiochemistry and inorganic chemistry work in the process chemistry group of the 222-S Laboratory in support of the tank retrieval and treatment processes for the Hanford Site. The chemist filling this position will be responsible for leading radiochemistry and inorganic chemistry projects by interfacing with radiation control and customers within and outside the 222-S laboratory to develop detailed work plans and conduct the experiments, either hands-on in the laboratory or through direction of technicians. This position includes radiochemical separation, shielding and dose computation, waste compatibility, dissolution and precipitation, physical and chemical analyses, and other non-routine assigned activities. The chemist in this position will be expected to operate under deadlines: planning, organizing, and managing activities in both radiochemistry and inorganic chemistry areas to meet laboratory and client schedules. The chemist will act as subject-matter expert, providing assistance and direction to less experienced scientists, technicians, and personnel from other disciplines or organizations. The chemist is expected to contribute to systematic planning, interpret analytical data, perform peer reviews, assist with method development, and author test plans and formal reports. Required Qualifications B.S. degree in Physics/Chemistry/Geology or related science and 5 years of related experience.
