Job Description:
**Overview**
The Earth and Biological Sciences Directorate (EBSD) leads novel
and necessary research in three core areas: Atmospheric and Climate
Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Environmental Molecular
Sciences. The contributions of EBSD staff are many as we continue
to elevate the impact of PNNL's science mission: to understand,
predict, and control the complex adaptive systems underlying the
science behind Earth, energy, and security.
**Responsibilities**
The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks a **Data
Scientist** to work on proteomics data analysis. This position
involves the development of data analysis pipelines in R,
evaluating algorithms and solving cutting-edge problems with big
proteomics data in general. Some of the downstream efforts will
include integration of proteomics data with transcriptomics and
personalized genomics data. The candidate will learn about
proteomics software tools and perform downstream data analysis that
involves parsing the data in the proteomics-specific format,
exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling and machine
learning. All the data analysis pipelines will be leveraging
markdown and Docker containers for reproducible research.
Designs, develops, and implements methods, processes, and systems
to analyze diverse data. Applies knowledge of statistics, machine
learning, advanced mathematics, simulation, software development,
and data modeling to integrate and clean data, recognize patterns,
address uncertainty, pose questions, and make discoveries from
structured and/or unstructured data. Produces solutions driven by
exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional
datasets. Designs, develops, and evaluates predictive models and
advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the
data. Demonstrates ability to transfer skills across application
domains.
