Requisition ID: 247320Requisition Posting End Date: 01/14/2022Project OverviewBechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world's largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities - Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory - as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.This position is a design position located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) in support of the Plant Engineering organization and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm (day shift). The selected applicant needs to be willing and able to work overtime and weekends as needed.The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.Position SummaryResponsible for assigned activities within an engineering or scientific discipline in a global business unit on a project or program. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering. Makes decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline on the project.ResponsibilitiesRepresents the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work.Reviews bid analyses and makes recommendations.Requires knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.Requires a basic knowledge of Bechtel's administrative practices.Must have experience in the below listed activities and the proven ability to lead the day-to-day technical work of the discipline engineers within their assigned group:Design/review of P&IDsWrite/check design criteria documentationDesign/review of digital and analog control logicGeneration/review of calculationsSpecification/review of instrumentation specification, including material requisition and data sheet preparationDesign/layout of plant control roomsLocation/arrangement of DCS and other control cabinets within plantAllocation of DCS I/OApply tubing and instrument installation designReview supplier documentation to ensure project specifications are satisfiedCoordinate work tasks with other engineering disciplines and other engineering officesQualifications and SkillsBasic QualificationsB.S. degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering, from an accredited university, or other related engineering field with 13 years' experience related to Control Systems engineering. In lieu of degree, 19 years' experience related to Control Systems engineering is requiredCandidate must have the right to legally work and remain in the United States without sponsorshipMinimum QualificationsKnowledge of data acquisition techniques and hardwareCandidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Familiar with or course work using industry wide Control Systems system calculation/design tools, such as instrument set-point calculation software, CAD 2D and loop designing softwareCandidate must be proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)Candidate must be able to achieve their Professional Engineer's (PE) License within one (1) year of hirePreferred QualificationsEngineering experience on DOD or DOE or NNSA or Commercial Nuclear work experience, specific technical experienceCurrent Professional Engineering LicenseShaping tomorrow togetherBechtel is one of the most respected global engineering, construction, and project management companies.
