JobResponsibilitiesThe South Carolina Department of Administration's Division of Technology Operations (DTO) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer who will work as a primary senior level engineer for monitoring, administering, and supporting our AWS cloud IaaS and PaaS solutions. It ensures cloud architecture meets the service delivery needs of the Division of Technology Operations and ensures proper integration of state security standards for all Cloud system.Responsibilitiesfor the Senior Systems EngineerYou will perform lead system administration tasks for DTO AWS cloud infrastructure. This includes Integrating AWS with existing infrastructure, 3rd party tooling, and the state's Cloud Management Platform, as well as securely managing, monitoring, and tracking cloud accounts and subscriptions, as well as deployment, monitoring, management, and support of cloud objects including VMs and cloud-native resources.You will work with DTO teams to Implement an IT governance model that guides the expansion of DTO's Cloud architecture and services. Documents the architecture and socializes architectural standards and capabilities with key stakeholder.You will create systematic processes to sustain and grow DTO services within the over-arching Cloud architecture. Establishes processes and procedures to ensure that the IT operations and technology decisions are supportable and driven by business needs.You will perform system administration, automation, and development tasks for the Cloud Management Platform (CMP). This includes managing Service Now forms, workflows, tables, etc. supporting the Service Catalog offerings, as well as supporting and maintaining the integration of the CMP with Terraform and AWS to Include the development of new automation to support future service catalog items and agency onboarding efforts.You will work with DTO and customer personnel to facilitate migrations to the DTO cloud Infrastructure.You will maintain continuity of shared services offered across AWS and AzureYou will perform other duties as required. Due to the technical nature of this position, it is designated as Essential Personnel and you may be required to be in the office as needed during ANY emergency or weather-related event.Minimum and AdditionalRequirementsMinimumRequirementsfor the Senior Systems EngineerA Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems and 5+ years of technical experience end relevant hands-on engineering. Background in DevOps, Software Development, Site Reliability, or Systems Engineering. Experience with configuration management and continuous deployment. Experience with Linux and Windows system administration. Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure solutions, including enterprise directories, on-premises hosting platforms (vSphere/Hyper-V}, and datacenter storage and networking. Experience with migration readiness and planning tools. Familiarity with cloud networking and monitoring. Strong project and product management experience. Excellent presentation skills. Advanced In project leadership and situational awareness. Strong written and verbal communication skills and careful attention to detail. Understanding of security/compliance requirements. CJIS Certification is a requirement of this position. AdditionalRequirementsfor the Senior Systems EngineerPublic Cloud infrastructure expertise: Amazon Web Services, Terraform. Ability to Integrate Cloud/ DevOps platforms with third party tools. Experience of AWS Governance and Best Practices (RBAC, Azure AD, Networking Architectures, Cost Mgmt. controls, etc.) Advanced knowledge of automation tools, including configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef) and Infrastructure provisioning (AWS CloudFormation, ARM Templates, or Terraform). Proficient In scripting languages (PowerShell / CLI). Expertise In Terraform Infrastructure aa code, understanding of scaling technologies and solutions, experience with Azure or other clouds, familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or other container platforms, security, penetration testing and threat detection tools, and experience with ServiceNow, Datadog, Dome9, and/or Aviatrix. Ability to prepare status reports and moderately complex technical reports in a clear and concise manner.
