We offer full-service engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation and controls, electrical, database and software engineering, technology development, and geophysics/subsurface imaging. We are presently licensed to provide engineering within the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and South Carolina.We are currently hiring one full time permanent Welder/Fabricator to join our growing team We offer competitive wages, great benefits and a positive work environment.Job Summary: The Welder/Fabricator role entails reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering plans. The position uses blueprints along with other data, such as work plans, to develop and design their welding projects and must be able to calculate correct weld sequence to minimize or eliminate any warpage due to heat input. The Welder/Fabricator will also layout, cut, fit, prep, tack, and weld components together to meet drawing specifications and requirements using the specified weld procedures dictated in the Fabrication, Inspection, and Test plan for each individual job. This role is responsible for ensuring their completed components safely meet or exceed drawing configurations and tolerances.Essential Responsibilities/Duties: Perform welding on critical and support equipment to a qualified Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). Perform structural welding on parts and components per the requirements of various specifications as prescribed by Project Travelers, Engineering Drawings, and Work OrdersPerform all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Company policies and proceduresRead and understand engineering drawings and welding symbolsFabricate and weld parts in accordance with Project documentation independently, without need of direct supervision Sufficient working knowledge of materials to determine the proper WPS to use and the ability to select the correct filler metal and gas for a given WPSDetermine the proper sequence of welding in order to prevent or reduce the amount of warpage to the work pieceDesign and fabricate weld fixtures as necessary to perform individual welding projectsMaintain weld recordsFabrication: cut, grind, drill, tap, shear, bend, roll, and fit-upWelding: perform welding operations in accordance with WPSs for processes such as FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW as required. Including pre and post weld heating operations as specified in WPSs as applicableAssembly: assemble basic mechanical equipment, structural components, and piping systems.Perform self-verification of welded parts and assemblies before inspection to ensure quality of work performed meets or exceeds acceptance criteriaInterface with QA/QC personnelReport unsafe conditions and unsafe equipmentDevelop templates and other work aids to hold and align partsMeasure work pieces to determine accuracy and acceptability per given requirementsRemoves burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work pieceEnsure that all documentation is correctly filled out and kept current as work progressesKeep a clean and organized work areaRequired Qualifications:5 years experience with a list of welding qualifications; OR a combination of 2 years experience and an Associates of Applied Sciences in Welding Technology or equivalent.Ability to pass a Columbia Energy weld test.Ability to operate tools, machinery, and vehicles safely.Ability to read, write and comprehend both verbal communications and written directions.Ability to perform arithmetic as required for layout and fabrication i.e. add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals, solve for missing angles or sides of a triangle, etc.Ability to travelto field sites when necessary.Must pass an employment record, criminal background check and a drug screen (drug and alcohol free workplace).Preferred Qualifications:Experience in R or Prototype fabrication.Experience working to a NQA-1 or ASME Section VIII program.Experience reading and working to drawings.Experience performing welds subjected to testing such as UT and RT.Ability to weld pipe, sheet metal, and structural steel.Must have a valid drivers license and possess a clean driving record.Key Success Attributes:Strong attention to detailTeam PlayerPositive attitude that contributes to a positive work environmentMaintain a quick and steady pace throughout your work shiftHighly motivated self-starter with ability to perform well with varying degrees of supervisionCore Competencies: Consistency and ReliabilityCommunicationTrustworthiness and EthicsMeeting StandardsBenefits:Generous compensation planMedical, Dental & Vision CoverageFlexible Spending Account (FSA)Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)Company Paid Life InsuranceTuition ReimbursementPaid Time Off (PTO)Paid Holidays401K PlanPhysical Requirements:Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull: objects, materials, controls and tools repetitively. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements.Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.Will be required to work in hot/cold/damp environments.Working Conditions while Performing Essential Functions:This position is performed in a shop/construction/field setting with occasional relocations to projects, Vendors, and Industrial sites.
