Job DetailsJob LocationSouth Richland HQ - Richland, WAPosition TypeFull Time - HourlyEducation LevelHigh SchoolJob ShiftDayJob CategoryBankingDescriptionSUMMARY:Under the direction of the Area Mortgage Operations Manager/Team Leader, the Home Loan Processor/Underwriter will coordinate members' needs with available programs by obtaining mortgage loan approval for all qualified applicants within an established time frame, from submission to funding. Project a professional image and maintain confidentiality with all customer and sensitive data.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Process loans to meet credit union and secondary market investor guidelines.Order and evaluate appraisals, title policy, credit reports, and income verifications.Communicate with originator and borrower regarding follow-up documentation needed. Ensure that all underwriting conditions are cleared prior to funding.Package up application and pre-underwrite with attention to detail for favorable underwriting results and for accurate supporting documentation. Prepare periodic reports as requested by Supervisor to reflect trends and activity.Package and ship FHA, VA, and conventional loans post- closing.Meet minimum established individual goals each month.Ensure that all approved loans comply with established loan standards and secondary market conditions. Pay bills from appraisers, title companies, credit reports, flood insurance and others as needed. Reconcile funding package for accuracy.Monitoring and Closing within the lock period is the responsibility of this position.Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.Provide recommendation to Supervisor of process improvements with possible solutions.Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all mortgage products and rates within the credit union.Maintain a dependable record of attendance and commitment.Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and coworkers.Display mutual respect, trust and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example by displaying solid ethics and integrity at all times.Control risk and perform duties in a safe and sound manner.Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity and levels of knowledge.Other department duties as may be assigned. QualificationsSKILLS/ABILITIES:Ability to multi-task on numerous projects simultaneously.Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in person and over the phone.Ability to make quality decisions in a timely manner with extreme attention to detail.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to promote and maintain a productive work environment.Demonstrated excellent written communication skills. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Home Loan Processor/Underwriter I: One to three years of similar or related experience; financial or real estate experience desired.High school diploma; or equivalent completion of specialized course of study, training, and experience.Experience in processing and underwriting real estate loans desired. Familiarity with secondary mortgage market and underwriting requirements desired.Experience with Desktop Underwriting or other lending-specific software desired.Proven professional sales ability in a financial or real estate venue desired.Proficiency with standard office equipment, lending software, spreadsheets, and word processing.Some travel is required to achieve training and business objectives.A valid Driver's License is required. Home Loan Processor/Underwriter II:Three to five years of similar or related experience; financial or real estate experience desired.2 year college degree; or equivalent completion of specialized course of study, training, and experience.Experience in processing and underwriting real estate loans desired. Familiarity with secondary mortgage market and underwriting requirements desired.Experience with Desktop Underwriting or other lending-specific software desired.Proven professional sales ability in a financial or real estate venue desired.Proficiency with standard office equipment, lending software, spreadsheets, and word processing.Some travel is required to achieve training and business objectives.A valid Driver's License is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Per the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, this is considered a sedentary position.
