Under direct supervision or mentorship of professional staff, performs staff, performs software development support tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures. Activities assigned will be somewhat rudimentary in nature, requiring the basic application of standard software development techniques. Intern will work under the direction of a software engineer to assist the Mission Integration Analysis group in the development or maintenance of the various Hanford tank waste modeling & simulation applications and tools. Contributions from the intern will be in the form of software scripts, SQL queries, or testing activities, depending on the experience and interests of the intern. Deliverables for this effort will include source code, unit tests (where applicable), and associated documentation for all changes implemented. Intern will be expected to have an interest in Computer Science and an introductory familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., C#, Python, SQL, etc.). Experience with Visual Studio and/or databases (i.e., SQL) will be highly valuable.
