Experience: Minimum of one year in Interventional Radiology and/or
Cath Lab managing fluoroscopy and scrubbing interventional cases
License: Current state licensure issued by the regulatory body,
ARRT certification, RT(R) Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS
certification (or within 6 months of hire) Must-Have: Advanced
technical competence in procedural imaging, radiation safety, and
hemodynamic monitoring Description: The Interventional
Radiology/Cardiology Radiologic Technologist supports diagnostic
and interventional procedures through expert operation of
fluoroscopic imaging equipment. This role involves sterile
technique and procedural workflow coordination. The technologist
works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and the
interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality
patient care. Demonstrates advanced technical competence in
procedural imaging, radiation safety, sterile field maintenance,
and hemodynamic monitoring while adhering to departmental protocols
and regulatory standards. Exercising professional judgment in the
performance of services is essential. Maintaining a demeanor
complementary to medical ethics is crucial. The technologist
provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions
essential for successful procedure completion. Responsible to the
Unit Manager and Surgical Services Director. Essential Job
Functions: Operates fluoroscopic and radiographic imaging systems
during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including
vascular, non-vascular, cardiac catheterization. Ensures optimal
image quality, positioning, and equipment settings based on
procedural needs. Maintains strict adherence to ALARA principles
and all radiation safety policies. Functions as a scrub
technologist when assigned, using sterile techniques to assist
physicians during procedures. Prepares and organizes sterile
instruments, guidewires, catheters, sheaths, and procedural trays.
Anticipates physician needs and responds quickly during critical
moments. Communicates actively with the monitor person to ensure
accurate documentation. Records hemodynamic data and procedural
events when assigned as the primary monitor technologist. Documents
all supplies used, implants, contrast usage, and procedural details
accurately. Collaborates with nursing and physicians to identify
contrast allergies and ensures proper documentation during timeout.
Assists with patient preparation, positioning, and equipment
placement. Performs patient identification, procedure verification,
and timeout processes in accordance with institutional policy.
Provides support during sedation under the direction of nursing and
medical staff. Assists with managing supplies and restocking
procedure rooms. Tracks expiration dates and ensures inventory is
properly stored. Assists with equipment checks ensuring all
equipment is functioning properly before use. Reports and documents
malfunctioning equipment and assists with service calls as needed.
Tracks radiation dose metrics and equipment service needs. Ensures
devices are cleaned, charged, and stored properly. Works
independently, making evaluations based on measurable criteria.
Recognizes the rights, responsibilities, and confidentiality of all
patients and conveys empathy effectively. Ability to work with
culturally diverse patient conditions is essential for successful
