Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: US Tech Specialty:

experience License: OBMI and ARDMS registered US Sonographer
Certifications: Current BLS certification Must-Have: CRASE training
preferred Description: Provide health care services, applying sonic
energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Perform ultrasonic
imaging and related procedures in the following areas: OB/GYN,
abdomen, breast, vascular, and small parts. Demonstrate anatomy for
interpretation and/or intervention by a licensed practitioner.
Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services and
maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Apply
appropriate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential
for successful completion of the procedure. Serve as an in-house
training resource for peers, vendors, and applications personnel.
Perform diagnostic sonography procedures. Corroborate patient's
clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented
and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Prepare patients
for procedures and provide instructions to obtain desired results,
gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Select and operate
ultrasound equipment and associated devices to achieve desired
results. Position patient and equipment to best demonstrate
anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination.
Determine ultrasonic frequencies and appropriate transducers for
the anatomic area of interest. Evaluate images for technical
quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded. Verify
informed consent for, and assist a licensed practitioner with,
interventional procedures. Practice aseptic techniques as
necessary. Assume responsibility for provision of physical and
emotional needs of patients during procedures. Prepare, identify,
and/or administer contrast media and/or medications as prescribed
by a licensed practitioner, when permitted. Initiate basic life
support action when necessary. Maintain knowledge of and observe
Universal precautions. Provide patient education. Assist in
maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established
policy. Assume responsibility for assigned area and report
equipment malfunction. Provide input for equipment purchase and
supply decisions. Provide practical instruction for students and/or
other health care professionals. Participate in the department's
quality assessment and improvement plan. May be responsible for
specific quality control duties in the assigned area. Understand
and apply patient relations skills. Pursue the appropriate
continuing education needed to maintain license or certification.
Accomplish other duties as assigned. Participate in required
education for programs as applicable to the position. Perform other
related duties as assigned. The position requires sufficient
auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, including
patient alarms and verbal communication. Clear and effective
communication is essential, as is the ability to interact with
patients, families, and healthcare team members. Visual acuity is
necessary for observing patient conditions, reading documentation
and monitors, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes.
Tactile perception is also important for assessing physical
characteristics during patient care. Motor coordination is required
for reaching, grasping, handling, and performing fine motor tasks
necessary for the use of medical equipment. The position may
involve occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when
assisting patients or accessing equipment. Walking and standing are
typically continuous throughout the shift. The role requires the
ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and involves frequent
pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients
weighing up to 25 pounds. There may also be occasional lifting or
transferring of individuals weighing over 100 pounds, ensuring
appropriate lifting techniques are used. This position is performed
primarily in an indoor healthcare environment. While working
indoors, the environment may be subject to variable temperatures.
The role involves frequent exposure to infectious and contagious
diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment. Staff is
expected to follow appropriate safety protocols and utilize
personal protective equipment as required. The healthcare
environment can be fast-paced and unpredictable, requiring the
ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances. The work
setting may involve multiple simultaneous demands and varying
levels of noise due to medical equipment, staff activity, and
