POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for functioning as
both a caregiver and care manager. In the caregiver role, the RN
assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated
time frame implementing the Nursing Process. In the role of care
manager, the RN directs and oversees the work of other caregivers,
(nurses and non-nurses) via delegation, coordination, supervision,
and validation/evaluation of patient care outcomes. The individual
in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose
and operation of Patient Care Services along with having the
ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation

mechanics. 12. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies
and procedures as well as labor agreements. 13. Ensures the
interface with team members and other support groups is conducted
in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization
s values. 14. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures
personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the

WORK ENVIRONMENT The individual in this position reports to the
Nursing Department Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, and
other designated supervisory staff on duty. This position works
closely with patients, physicians, and other clinicians in order to
ensure optimal patient care and outcomes. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: a. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
License: a. Current Washington State RN Licensure. Certification:
a. HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support)
within 30 days of hire AHA or equivalent. Experience: a. Experience
as an acute care registered nurse preferred. b. Minimum one year of
RN experience preferred for specialty nursing departments.

a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and
evaluating the care of all assigned patients. b. Critical thinking

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Frequent standing, walking, lifting,
reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. 2.
Manual dexterity, light physical effort, ability to lift/carry up
to 30 lbs. (supplies and equipment). Manual dexterity of hands and
feet to ambulate 8 to 12 hours per shift and adroitly manage
multiple pieces of equipment/tubes/invasive lines. 3. Physical
strength to perform CPR (bed/floor), lift and push/pull 60 to 300
pounds (with assistance) as often as 20 times per 8 to 12 hours and
perform constant walking, twisting, turning, and stretching
maneuvers in patient care and use of equipment. 4. Keen mental
faculties to perform assessment and decision-making skills in the
management of acutely ill patients. 5. Good reading eyesight. Is
able to see clearly 20 feet or more, to judge distance and space
relationships, and to see peripherally. Visual acuity to observe
patient assessment data and use manual/automated documentation
tools. 6. Emotional stability: Conducive to dealing with a high
stress level for 8 to 12 hours at a time associated with caring for
acute patients/families, fast-paced physical activity, rapidly
changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and
their families, and demands of maintaining effective working
relationships with peers, managers, physicians, and other health
care workers. 7. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written
skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians,
nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the
public. Mother Baby Unit 1. AAP NRP Advanced (American Academy of
Pediatrics, Neonatal Resuscitation Program) is required for all RN
s working in MBU prior to the end of orientation and renewed every
2 years. 2. ACLS (AHA Advanced Life Support) certification to be
obtained within 6 months of hire and renewed every 2 years. 3.
STABLE course completion within 6 months of completing orientation,
and renewed every 2 years (optional) 4. AWHONN s Intermediate Fetal
Monitoring course for all L&D RNs is required and must be
obtained within 3 months of completing L&D training and renewed
every 2 years. Electronic Fetal Monitoring from NCC is also
acceptable. 5. RN-C in specialty preferred. There will be up to 24
hours of call off available to the facility at no cost during the
course of the assignment. Additional will be up to 24 hours of call
