position is responsible to coordinate the activities of the
occupational health and safety program. Participates in Quality
Improvement and Infection Control activities. Monitors occupational
health activities and maintains records including but not limited
to: vaccinations, Quantiferon testing, fit testing, occupational
exposures and worker’s compensation. The individual in this
position will be required to fully understand the purpose and
operation of Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Control
along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound
judgment when a situation dictates. This position requires
confidentiality of personnel records, reports, and matters
sensitive to the Human Resources Department. This position is a
full-time position working Monday-Friday from 6:30am-3:00pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Records and maintains all pertinent health data
on employees. Notifies employees when activity is required (fit
testing, immunizations, titers, etc.) Ensures activities are
completed in timely manner, notifies department leader when past
due. Provides immunizations for staff. Reviews Occupational Health
and fit testing questionnaires. Maintains accurate records. Orders
and maintains an adequate supply of all necessities for the
service. Monitors data for reporting to state and federal agencies.
Participates as needed on committees and teams, representing the
Occupational Health and Safety function. (i.e. Safety, Quality,
Emergency Management, Safe Patient Handling) Provides back-up
support for the Human Resources Department front desk. Maintains
professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and
professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field
of expertise. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following
safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited
to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment,
infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures,
as well as labor agreements. Ensures the interface with team
members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and
efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values. Conducts
self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets
the standards necessary to perform the job function while
representing the organization. Ensures that additional
accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a
manner necessary to meet organizational standards. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The individual in this position reports to the Chief Human
Resources Officer. This position works closely with all departments
within the organization in order to administer the Occupational
Health and Safety program and Infection Control program. EDUCATION
& EXPERIENCE License: Current Washington State license as a MA-C or
LPN. Certification: HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic
Life Support) within three (3) months of hire. Experience : Minimum
two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare setting. Experience in
collecting and compiling data, reporting, maintaining files, and
handling confidential information. Skills/Competencies: Computer
skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and EPIC. Communicates
effectively with individuals of varying education and cultural
backgrounds, excellent human relations and oral/written
communication skills. Keeps current on trends and issues relating
to Occupational Health, Safety, and Infection Control. Demonstrates
competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist.
Critical thinking skills: Seeks resources for direction, when
necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is
logical and deliberate. Performs actions that demonstrate
accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making.
Practices within legal and ethical guidelines. Demonstrates
competency in ability to care for customers/patients across the age
continuum. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Occasional standing, walking,
lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and
pulling. Ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs. (office supplies).
Good reading eyesight. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or
written skills for accurate exchange of information with
physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or
family, and the public. As a Samaritan Healthcare professional, you
