Roles & Responsibilities Conduct exercise and pharmacologic cardiac stress tests following established protocols and provider orders. Perform thorough pre-test patient assessments including health history, medication review, vital signs and contraindication screening. Place and monitor EKG leads, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and other physiologic indicators throughout testing. Recognize EKG changes, arrhythmias or clinical deterioration and escalate or intervene per nursing scope and provider direction. Administer stress-test medications (e.g., regadenoson/Lexiscan, dobutamine) safely and document responses. Document procedures, patient responses and clinical data accurately in the EMR. Provide clear patient education on the procedure, expectations, risks and follow-up instructions. Ensure equipment functionality, cleanliness and readiness; troubleshoot common issues quickly and effectively. Collaborate with cardiologists, technologists and diagnostic teams to coordinate testing and patient flow. Maintain compliance with regulatory standards such as Joint Commission requirements and state nursing practice acts.
