Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Independent thinker, self-motivated Description: The position is for an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. The nurse will work in a fast-paced emergency room environment. The ER has 11 beds/trauma bays. There is no fast track system in the ER. Triage is managed directly until capacity is reached. Separate holding areas in the ER do not exist. ER nurses manage their own holds. There are no separate psych/seclusion rooms. The standard RN assignment includes a variety of responsibilities. In-house security is present. An average of 37 patients are seen per day. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 to 1:4. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC. Common patient diagnoses vary in complexity. Experience as an independent thinker and self-starter is essential. Emergency Department staff consists of one physician working 12-hour shifts. Charge nursing responsibilities are rotated. Accompanying nursing staff, such as aids or paramedics, are occasionally available. Respiratory therapy is on-site 24/7 for support. Nurses perform all necessary procedures, including drawing blood and administering treatments. Shifts include standard night hours. Weekend and holiday work is required. There is rarely a call or standby requirement. Floating to other units occurs only if desired. The dress code consists of navy blue scrubs. Unit-specific orientation is provided. The facility operates at trauma level 4.
