Description:Valor Healthcare operates more than 50 Veteran Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in the United States as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Valor provides a full range of medical services to veterans through the operations of CBOCs. Our comprehensive set of services includes primary care, diagnostics, laboratory, telehealth, behavioral health, and more. In addition, we are always looking at other government contracts where this assignment comes into play as a contract position working directly in a Department of Energy facility for a occupational medicine outpatient clinic.Position SummaryThe Primary Care Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the supervising physician to provide occupational medicine care. The Provider/Clinician works closely with all clinic staff and management to provide quality care to patients in a positive work environment.Schedule: This position is 16 hours/week with no contract end date in sight.Core ResponsibilitiesAssess patient needs within an urgent care setting which includes risk assessment, patient's level of comprehension, etc.Triage patients to differentiate between immediate and less urgent care conditions.Fill out Department of Transportation (DOT)exam forms, completing Return to Work (RTW) documents, etc.Interpret labs, x-rays & ECGS.Prescribe medications.Perform minor surgical procedures.Consult with others on medical care of patients.Handle private, pre-employment, and workers' comp patients. Ensure proper diagnosis, handling, and recovery.Take patient histories and vital signs as necessary.Instruct and educate patients about discharge instructions if applicable.Maintain quality assurance of charts and testing.Handle telephone calls about services rendered from company accounts, patients, physicians, as well as other staff.Provide accurate and timely documentation to clinical staff, insurance carriers and companies.Correspondence by phone, in person, or in writing with regard to patient and client care, i.e. insurance carriers, physicians, non-clinic physicians.Communicate patient needs, diagnosis, and course of treatment to the patient, company, as well as other clinical staff.Create an individualized plan of patient's care based on physical, psychosocial and age specific assessment of the patient, as well as patient's input/history.Other duties as assigned.Requirements:PA Only:Bachelor's degree (BPAS or a related field) and Master's degree (MPAS) required.Graduate of an accredited program for physician assistants, including preceptorship.Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).NP Only:Masters Degree in Nursing - Nurse PractitionerBoard certification by American Nurses' Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.Certification as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse or Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and Certification in Case Management is desired.PA and NP:A minimum of three (3) years of working experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in an Occupational Health settingHold a valid and unrestricted PA or NP license in the Washington StateCurrent certification in Basic Life SupportCurrent, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.The health care providers must have the knowledge to review skin decontamination protocols and advice on actions for removal of tenacious contamination and the capability to oversee and coordinate dose reduction therapy activities including minor decontamination of wounds and prescription and administration of therapeutic chelation agents (e.g. DTPA in both Zinc and Calcium salt forms).Experience with workers compensation.?Proficiency in written and spoken English.Strong computer skillsThis job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.Valor Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer.Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or protected veteran status
