SCOPEThe Tax Manager of the Christensen Company will report to the Operational Controller. They will work as a key team member on the Operations Accounting team providing corporate level specialization in the areas of tax accounting. Expectation is to be a leader and create structure and accuracy within the data collection, reconciliation, and reporting/filings within the company.SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES & DELIVERABLES* Maintain required level of technical knowledge.* Prepare estimated federal and state income tax payments.* Perform monthly prepaid & accrual review and reconciliation to general ledger.* Prepare various state, and local tax returns, including Excise, Fuel, Revenue based, and Sales & Use taxes.* Identify tax savings and suggest ways to increase profits.* Prepare/Review other various tax filings: Annual reports, Intangible Tax, etc.* Prepare and file mileage-based returns - IFTA, ODOT, WDOT* Research projects.* Assist in federal and state audits.* File for all necessary tax refunds* Maintain tax rates across multiple systems.* Manage account set up and team to ensure accuracy of data collected.* Keep abreast of current developments in the tax area.* Provide an information source in the tax area within the company.* Recommend tax strategies that align with business goals.* Research & develop processes around taxes for new jurisdictions of business* Other tax projects as they arise.* Assist in financial planning and analysis.LEADERSHIP & TEAM REACH* Become a strong leader and mentor with an openness for growth and ideas of improvement.* Assisting in the restructure of internal accounting/processing procedures.* Candidates must be highly organized and have outstanding communication skills to be successful in this role.* Work as a part of a team, ensuring accounting needs are handled at all times with an emphasis in customer service skills with a variety of department heads.* Understand and live our Core Values.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS* Minimum 5 years as a Tax accountant, Tax Analyst or similar role* Bachelor's in Accounting and/or related field* Minimum 3 years as a manager or supervisory role* Solid understanding of MS Office and accounting software - Great Plains, Sage, E3, & Trinium* Advanced Excel skills* SQL experience - preferred* Ability to work independently* Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills* Work well under pressure and meet hard deadlines, while being constantly interrupted* Ensure Tax preparation is meeting all Month-End Close deadlines and preparation deadlines* Analytical skills with the ability to synthesizes complex and diverse information as well as collect and assemble data from different systems, and use intuition and experience to complement dataABOUT CHRISTENSENAt Christensen, our purpose is WINNING TOGETHER.
