Requisition ID: 247939Requisition Posting End Date:Project OverviewBechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world's largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington state. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 56 million gallons (212 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.The cleanup project is one of DOE's most technically challenging and the largest undertaking of its kind"-- - -equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. The construction site spans 65 acres (26 hectares) and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, high-level waste vitrification, and the analytical laboratory - as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, and other support facilities.Positions located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) work a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other work locations may work a 9-80's schedule, M-F 7:00 am to 4:30 pm with alternating Fridays off. Extended hours as needed.Position SummaryBechtel's Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) Project (The Project) is currently seeking a Platform Engineering Lead to join the IS&T team.ResponsibiltiesSupervision of the Platform Engineering and Release Management Team within IS&T Department.Automated deployment of software to clients and servers.Monitoring of client performance.Creation and maintenance of client standard configuration.Creation and maintenance of the software installation library to include application installation packages.Implementation of software release and monitoring tools, such as SMS, install library, and Spotlight (and other monitoring tools).Close interface with the Threat Management Team and ensure the GBU threat profile is tightly managed through the deployment of agent updates.Coordinate updates to the GBU platform environment including security agents with GBU project leads/contacts.Product quality process implementation.Reporting of organization accomplishments to include work process metrics.Establish Workstation Software Configuration Standards.Mature Client monitoring and preventative maintenance process.Implementation of new client OS. Definition, integration and documentation of release management processes.Maintain accountability for project data backup services and secure data transfer techniques (SFTP) for the Project. Assist in the definition and evolution of WTP architecture to meet project long terms needs and provide technical expertise and knowledge to other teams such as operations, application development, etc.Qualifications and SkillsBasic QualificationsBA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline from an accredited college or university with 9 years of progressive related experience, in lieu of a degree, 15 years of progressive related experience.Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.Minimum QualificationsMust be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site3 years experience managing teams of 3+ staff including building, growing, and ensuring effective team performance.3 years experience and knowledge and experience with release management tools such as MECM/SCCM, SMS, etc. and/or strong scripting knowhow (VBScript, PowerShell etc.).3 years experience in fields of software development, integration, operations and data analytics.Demonstrable experience in the management and maintenance of a large, distributed computing infrastructure, including the automated distribution of software.Demonstrable experience managing Windows desktop and server environments on behalf of an operational environment.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and through other media to all levels of project staff within and outside the IS&T organizationPreferred QualificationsAbility to proactively engage and work with external teams and share expertise between teams.Experienced with Configuration Management and Software Release principles.Experience with software development and database management skillsSound knowledge of Windows OS internals and troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of hardware and software virtualization principlesKnowledge of cloud architecture principles and its adaptability for the government sector (MS Azure)Highly motivated and self-starting, should have a proactive approach to resolving issues and working with limited supervision.In accordance with Bechtel's duty to provide and maintain a safe workplace for our employees and to safeguard the health of our families, customers, and visitors, we have adopted mandatory COVID-19 safety protocols for each work location, which may include a vaccination or testing requirement.
