Requisition ID: 242528Requisition Posting End Date: 11/18/2021Project Overview:The Bechtel team is responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of the world's largest and most technically sophisticated radioactive waste treatment plant (WTP) at the U.S. Department of Energy Hanford Site in Washington State. This first-of-a-kind project will use vitrification to transform 53 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste into and immobile glass form. The waste is stored in 177 aging underground tanks accumulated between 1944 and 1989, when plutonium and other nuclear materials were produced for national defense. The plant will include three major nuclear process facilities and a laboratory: a Pretreatment Facility, a High-Level Waste Vitrification Facility, a Low-Activity Waste Vitrification Facility, and an Analytical Laboratory.Posiition Summary:Equipment Stress Engineer ScopeYou will be working as part of the engineering Equipment Stress Analysis Group designing and analyzing complex mechanical equipment. You will be preparing design documentation and performing calculations using engineering software for complex mechanical equipment used in the waste treatment process and support systems. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in using appropriate codes such as ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, and AISC N690. The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) software such as ANSYS and will be capable of developing design documents that incorporate the applicable design requirements, including nuclear safety requirements. You will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the development of the design.Responsibilities:Collect the process, mechanical, controls, safety, and other requirements for the process equipment to develop design documents and calculations for the equipment to meet the applicable requirements.Perform equipment stress analyses using FEA software as well as performs reviews of FEA and other submittals prepared by equipment vendors.Work as part of a team that includes senior engineers with expertise in FEA and Code analysis.Coordinate within the engineering group and other disciplines and groups in developing the detailed equipment design in a team environment.Resolve technical issues related to the discipline, and discusses them with other disciplines, groups, suppliers, and the customer.Prepare reports and studies in resolving open technical issues related to the equipment design.Ensure the work is performed to the high-quality standards for nuclear facilities while executing to the schedule.In addition, the candidate will be required to have excellent communication skills and can be the "face"-- - of Bechtel promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values to external partners, vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.Qualifications and Skills:Basic Qualifications:Level One: BS degree in Mechanical /Civil Engineering, from an accredited university, with at least 1 year of relevant experience. Related experience includes, but is not limited to, the design and fabrication of complex processing equipment.Level Two: BS degree in Mechanical /Civil Engineering, from an accredited university, with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience. Related experience includes, but is not limited to, the design and fabrication of complex processing equipment.Detailed working knowledge of standards associated with fabrication and construction of process equipment. This would include but is not limited to ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, and AISC N690.Hands on experience using FEA analysis software such as ANSYS.Understanding of stress analysis, process equipment design, and dynamic (response spectra) solutions for seismic analysis of equipment.Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.Possess the legal right to work and remain in the US without sponsorshipPreferred Qualifications:Experience in equipment design analysis in DOE or commercial nuclear facilities.Experience using ANSYS Finite Element Analysis Software (Mechanical APDL or Workbench).Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) ExaminationShaping tomorrow togetherBechtel is one of the most respected global engineering, construction, and project management companies.
