Job Description:

The FM (Foreign Material) Elimination Innovation Sr. Engineer will own, manage and/or direct small teams for FM Elimination Equipment development, from the conceptual phase through the commercialization process. This position will work to further develop technical skills and provide impactful business results. Actual work will be focused on developing new, improved FM Elimination Equipment technologies to support the elimination of FM from our products, reduce cost and/or improve quality. This position will become the SME (Subject Mater Expert) in FM elimination equipment and will consult/support the Technical Support Engineering team and Plant Engineering team with existing FM elimination equipment. This position will be based in Richland, WA at the Lamb Weston Technical Center.Position Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, or acquisition of innovative FM Elimination technologies (i.e. X-ray, Metal Detectors, NIR, Vision) to deliver competitive advantages.
  • Assist Engineering on projects in FM Elimination equipment selection, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to lead medium to large projects.
  • Meet or exceed project objectives under the direction of a supervisor.
  • Process development methodologies teacher, mentor, technical resource, and subject matter expert.
  • Ability to champion new ideas through the process development process.
  • Provide technical support in manufacturing facilities as required.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and distill them to Intellectual Property.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to monitor consumer trends and wants/needs within the food industry.
  • Be flexible in learning and applying new ways of executing work.
  • Assist in providing technical leadership on projects as required.
  • Provide leadership in establishing safety of all our associates to World Class Safety and Zero Incidents as the team's first objective.
  • Support and provide Leadership in Quality and Food Safety to achieve goals of Zero Foreign Material.
  • Foster a team-based problem-solving methodology.
  • Demonstrate organizational maturity through decision making and effective communication with various departments and managers to ensure Technical Innovation and Global Engineering team resources are efficiently utilized in maximizing true efficiency.

    • BS or MS in Engineering required.
    • Minimum of five years of experience in Food Manufacturing.
    • Proven/demonstrated experience in equipment reliability and continuous improvement.
    • Previous FM equipment design and maintenance are a plus.
    • Minimum 7- 10 years related experience required.
    • Understanding of Design of Experiment methodologies.
    • Proficient in Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel and Power Point.
    • Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD programs such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
    • Strong communication skills (both verbal and nonverbal) and the ability to present to leadership.
    • Experienced with project management fundamentals.
    • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
    • Demonstrated strong leadership (Interpersonal, Team, and Organizational) and decision-making skills.
    • Structured problem-solving skills.
    • Technical judgment and prioritization skills.

    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible company representative

      • Walking on various manufacturing facility surfaces.
      • Exposure to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
      • Occasionally required to use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.
      • Climbing up ladders and stairs.
      • Exposure to temperature changes from hot to cold.
      • Ability to safely operate a Company vehicle.
