Job Description:

Framatome is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Richland, WA location. This position will be required to learn existing plant systems, support improvement projects and maintenance activities at a facility with automated chemical processing and assembly/manufacturing equipment.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems
Design and maintenance of nuclear fuel fabrication plant manufacturing equipment.
Design mechanical systems that satisfy applicable mechanical standards, human factors, installation/cost, and maintenance best practices.
Oversee field work including new installations, integration into existing systems, and troubleshooting.
Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards.
Consults with engineering staff and technicians/craft to ensure compliance with design specifications, plant and industry standards.
Start up, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of process and production equipment and associated facilities and support systems.
Support of 24/7 fuel manufacturing facility in engineering projects and maintenance.




All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
Engineer II: BS in Engineering/Engineering Tech. plus 2-3 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
Engineer III: BS in Engineering/Engineering Tech. plus 3-5 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
Engineer IV: BS in Engineering/Engineering Tech. plus 5-7 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
Mechanical Engineering Degree or graduating Senior in an ABET Accredited Mechanical Engineering Program.

Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
Strong Mechanical Aptitude and knowledge of various manufacturing equipment
Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal working relationships.
Familiarity with maintenance or project engineering in an industrial/commercial facility.
Well organized, with attention to detail
Proficiency with PC-based applications such as MS Office



The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
5 years of design or project engineering work in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and/or use in Mechanical, Piping, Equipment Layouts, Machine Design, and Metal fabrication (Machining, Sheetmetal, Welding, Forming, etc)
Solidworks and/or AutoCAD design experience
Familiar with AutoCAD Vault PDM system, AutoCAD P&ID, Solidworks Routing
Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standard
Knowledge of standards: ASME B31.1 B31.3, AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3
Knowledge of OSHA, WISHA standards related to machine guarding
